DAY 1: HANOI - NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI

At 8h30 pm, we will pick you up at your hotel and transfer to Hanoi Railway Station for overnight train to Lao Cai. Overnight on board

DAY 2: LAO CAI – SAPA (B)

The train arrives at Lao Cai Station approx at 5h30 where our guide and driver are waiting. You will be transferred to hotel in Sapa, where breakfast awaits you. The day is free to explore the area around Sapa. Overnight at hotel in Sapa

DAY 3: SAPA – ECOLODGE IN THANH KIM VILLAGE (B, L, D)

After breakfast you depart from hotel going to Topas Ecolodge. The transfer is approximately one hour. Upon arrival you will check into your private bungalow and enjoy the view into the valley and dotted mountain surroundings. You will have lunch and dinner in the lodges’ restaurant. Rest of the day free at leisure.
NB Topas Ecolodge is situated in the perfect location at two cone-shaped hills set deep in the spectacular Sapa valley of Northern Vietnam. It uses solar technology to supply every lodge with energy and hot water, employ local people and use local products and goods in order to bring economic benefits to the local community.

DAY 4: FULL DAY VISIT TO A MARKET - TOPAS ECOLODGE (B, L, D)

Today we have an early breakfast; then depending on the day of the week, we can visit the market of Ban Cam (Tuesdays), Lung Khau Nhin (Thursdays), Can Cau (Saturdays) and Bac Ha (or Muong Khuong or Muong Hum on Sundays), all located in the surrounding mountainous area, 70 – 90 km from Lao Cai. All of the markets are colorful with many different hill tribes living around the market, gathers in a morning of the week. They come to the market not only for purchasing their local products, but also for their special social event.
In the mid afternoon you will transfer back to Sapa, visit Dragon Jaw Mountain from where you can get the spectacular view of Sapa Town standing in the sea of mist, neighboring TV station tower which is close to pear and cat apple garden. Return the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: SAPA-LAO CAI-HA NOI (B, L)

Today is at your leisure.
At 16h30 you will take the Topas Ecolodge shuttle bus to Sapa. At 17h30, you will take the shuttle bus to Lao Cai for the night train back to Hanoi.
Overnight on board

DAY 6: ARRIVAL IN HANOI

The train will arrive in Hanoi around 4h30 am. End of trip.

We did enjoy our Vietnam holiday very much and it surely was one of the best trips we ever made.

The highlights were surely in the North Vietnam. The trip to Sapa and the mountain bike tour was magnificent, though we underestimated how cold it can be in the mountains in December especially during the night time. Since we live in Singapore we are not really well equipped if it comes to warm clothes, but we would surely take more warm clothes with us when traveling in winter up there.

As I said we loved the North of Vietnam especially and I suppose if we would do it again, we probably would spend more time up there.

Our Vietnam tour was very well designed and organized and it was a first for us that an operator actually was checking several times during the holidays, if everything is OK. That was very much appreciated.

Again - it surely was one of the best trips we ever made - we had a great holiday.
